25 miles to TS#26 -- Amanda with crew
Just spoke with Amanda -- she's now joined the team and reports that the crew and Mike are looking surprisingly good. She remembers how bad she felt at this stage last year so it's nice to get to the race on day 6 and feel fresh. "Byron and Steve look great for having been here since day one," she commented. "Everybody is very alert and completely in control here."
Amanda took John Crumpler's spot on the crew as John had to head back for family commitments.
Mike got a very good two hour nap at a Holiday Inn just east of St. Louis and scarfed down some pasta and basically got completely re-energized for this final multi-day push through the eastern U.S.
It's still very, very hot and Mike's been downing a lot of water plus Cytomax and Pedialyte (for electrolyte replacement) and that's been helping him stay well hydrated and fueled while riding.
They're currently about 25 miles from TS#36 in Greenville, Illinois.

This will probably make the remaining miles that much more fun, right???? Before you know it, you'll be in WV...and then being escorted to the finish!
(so there is some pushing, pedaling, coaxing, hugging, scolding, whining, grinding, cheering, high-fiving, smiling, and spinning granny gears between now and then...but that's what RAAM is!)

Your're a Champion ! Before the race began, some writer describred you and Robic as "titans". Titans are in a realm of their own. Titans are the oceans, mountains, sun, moon and other influences upon the earth. That certainly describes you ! You are a major influence in the lives of so many ~ many who don't know you, some who do. You inspired others to ride their bikes and avoid sumptuous treats, or to ride in honor of you, do something healthy. All good. You made " O " and alot of others understand: community-support and good-will can improve any day. That is a lesson to the world. You have influenced our world, you are truely a Titan.
