Crew out of cell range -- MacDonald 4 hours back at 32

Couldn't reach anybody just now. Looks like they're in a dead cell pocket. But judging from results at TS#32 (Mike's already past 33), Trevino had put some serious distance between him and MacDonald. Not sure how much that surge -- or lack of sleep -- may have hurt MacDonald. Robic's still way up the road but there's still a lot of racing to be done.

Tomorrow they'll be done with Missouri and the big river is right on the horizon. Let's see if Mike can maintain this increased pace and start bring Robic back. Comments here on the blog have been great and very inspirational to Mike. Keep 'em coming.

I'll talk to the crew in the morning and post an update.

Hi Mike,

Did ya hear the one about the dog who was was just fretting and pacing ? His owner said, " Hey, Fido, what's wrong ? " Fido said, " The price of Alpo just went up to a dollar a can, that's almost seven dollars in dog money ! "

(Grandpa Bert loved that one.)

Hi Mike...
It's Angela and Maria Bunker...
It is 12 :49 a.m. and we are together "celebrating" your ride. We are watching you...every stride you make. We have it all figured out.....maybe Robic will hit a storm and you wont... we are in awe of your strentgh and mental ability...keep on little Mikey!
We are so proud of you....Angela will not let me go to bed....b/c she keeps reminding that you are still awake pedaling away...so, I am holding my head up...barely awake trying to stay focused....we are thinking of you...and we love you....

Angela and Maria: Robic IS a storm! Mike favours long, open spaces, but Jure's home are mountains. And there is no more flat road to go...

It looks like Robic is either in a spot of trouble or took a very long break. He is about an hour and a half past his predicted arrival at TS 35. I'm sure you are aware of this already. I'm done with work for the night and I am going to hit some climbs on the way home. I will definitly ride like an inspired man, thinking about you on the road. Keep the hammer down. You are gaining ground.

Mike,

Keep on, keeping on. When I have to ride up hills my theme cadence song is the "Paul Revere" by the Beastie Boys. One lonely Beastie I be... Feel the beat! Churn those legs!

Thought we should give you a shout out in the middle of the night for you, just to let you know we are still cheering!
